My skills include communications writing, public speaking, editing, knowledge of and advanced experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks), email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact and Mailchimp, digital media, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Pinterest, Boomerang, Hootsuite, and LinkedIn. I also have experience with event planning including conferences, company summits, special events, awards luncheons, etc.
EXPERIENCE
With seven plus years of communications and marketing experience, I have had the privilege of working in a broad array of industries. My career in marketing started off as the senior public relations intern in the communications and marketing department at Covenant Health System and simultaneously a communications intern with the Texas Tech University Athletic Department. After graduation, I became an Account Coordinator at The Price Group - an advertising agency based out of Lubbock, TX. Following my time there, I joined the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center family as the Communications Coordinator for the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health. Overseeing the communications, marketing and graphic design for five departments, I was awarded Employee of the Quarter in 2013 and again in 2015. Upon completion of my graduate degree, I took the role as Marketing Manager for Ashley HomeStore, overseeing seven West Texas markets. Shortly after arriving and improving the state of the marketing and advertising department, I was awarded Department of Year for the company in 2016. I have been honored with the Association for Women in Communications - Lubbock Professional Chapter prestigious Beth Pratt Communicator of the Year award and the Association for Women in Communications National Chapter Star Award both in 2016.
WHAT I DO
I am currently the Marketing and Special Events Coordinator for the City of Lubbock Municipal Museums. I oversee the communications and advertising for the Buddy Holly Center and the Silent Wings Museum. My duties include event planning, advertising oversight, media buying, social media strategy, rental program coordination, graphic design oversight, media relations, public relations, and other marketing responsibilities. Since becoming a part of the team, I have increased attendance at multiple special events, increased social media followers and interactions, introduced and implemented new event ideas, increased media coverage and appearances, increased sponsorship dollars and donations for the annual Summer Showcase Concert Series, and updated printed materials.
